I found this book to be a great resource for beginners who are new to Firefox, or an individual that wants to learn more about why they should immediately stop using IE and make the switch! 'Firefox Secrets' is well written with an easy style, not assuming that you are an experienced user, instead it takes the approach that you are new to the joys of using the best browser in the world. Mr. Yeow introduces the reader to the basics of obtaining Firefox, and then quickly goes into the #1 difference that makes Firefox fantastic - tabbed browsing. After explaining what tabbed browsing is and how it can be configured to fit your needs, Bookmarks are examined and then Themes are discussed.For anyone that is a little bit familiar with Firefox, a look at how to install and configure some of the best extensions on the web is a worthwhile venture, and finally the Author talks about tips/tricks and the available web development add-ins out on the web.I especially found the web development section to be the most handy. I was already familiar with the outstanding Web Developer extension and have used it for some time, but there were also links to an advanced Javascript debugger, along with other tweaks that the author recommends to improve the web browsing experience.If you are an expert at Firefox you probably won't learn much from this book, but for any new user or someone who would consider themselves an amateur, I would recommend picking this up because it's very likely that you'll pick up something new -- whether a trick you did not know about or a hot extension, it's unlikely that anyone but the most experienced of users isn't going to learn something new from this text. Although not the first to market, it does a good job given the right audience...Contents: Introduction; Introducing Your New Favorite Web Browser; Essential Browsing Features; Revisiting Web Pages; Dressing Up Firefox; Personalizing Firefox; Tips, Tricks, and Hacks; Web Development Nirvana; Living On The Edge; IndexYeow does a nice job explaining why Firefox is a desired alternative to IE and why you should be using it. In addition to explaining all the different features in the menu, he also goes into some of the more popular browser extensions you can download and install to customize your browser experience. That's one of the huge advantages of Firefox over other browsers, and it's an area that can't be overlooked. There's also a fairly high level coverage of how the browser can aid your web development efforts based on the built-in debugging tools and the high adherence to web standards.If you already have a Firefox book, this one isn't going to add much new information for you. Also, if you're wanting to dive into all the esoteric settings with about:config, this also won't get you there. But if you haven't yet switched to Firefox, or if you've switched but haven't taken the time to explore all the power that Firefox gives you, this book would help you out quite a bit...

This is the first Firefox book I've read, so it won't have a comparison to any of the others -- as a few books hit the market soon after Firefox started nipping at Internet Explorer's market share of the browser market.Chapter 1 kicks off the book with an introduction explaining why Firefox is a first-rate browser and how to install its Windows, Mac, and Linux releases. "Essential Browsing Features," the next chapter, reviews tabbed browsing, searching, downloading, and other features.I've used Firefox prior to the v1.0 release and I've picked up a few tricks in this chapter. The tips go beyond entering keywords into the search box or changing search engines. However, I found an error -- the book says to left-click on a selected word on any Web page and run a search on the selected word - It's right-click, not left."Revisiting Web Pages" dives into bookmarks and how to get the most out of your bookmark file. The tricks explain how to quickly find a Web page that is hidden in your bookmarks somewhere, and you don't have a clue what it is called and the keywords aren't giving you what you want. Also covered are RSS feeds, Live Bookmarks, and memory tools such as using history, managing cookies, using the password manager, and clearing tracks.Many people love Firefox because it's customizable. One way to make it your own is by changing the theme (look and feel). "Dressing up Firefox" explains how to find and change themes.Another way to get what you want out of Firefox is through extensions, covered in chapter 5's "Personalizing Firefox." The book closes out with troubleshooting and information about browser's nightly builds.The book only has minor shortcomings. The tips and warning sidebars text is smaller than the rest of the book's contents. It might be difficult for some people to read.While it's nice that a bonus CD came with it, it's outdated (v1.0.3 and the current had already surpassed that by several minor releases. It also has Thunderbird 1.0.3 and the current version as of this review's writing is 1.5 Beta 1.). At least, it doesn't increase the book cost and gives newer users an easier start as they don't have to worry about downloading files. But the site says it's a [...] value. No CD costs that much and none of the stuff costs anything.It's a well-rounded book written in a friendly and easy going style that should get new users up-to-speed and provide experienced users with tips to maximize the Firefox browsing experience. If you are at the right stage...after much struggle ( like myself) and HARD work but now making great strides, etc...this book is priceless ! If ready, it will take you to the next level. Here you will find deep wisdom about the art of intuition, that heightened sensitivity to subtle feelings or perceptions we all have but too often ignore in our rush to action. This book is about how traders may cultivate their intuition to its full potential.The book is divided into four parts. The first and last explore the relationship between intuition and trading, with many relevant quotes from experts in a variety of non-trading fields, such as athletics and self-improvement, as well as from top traders. The middle two sections are interviews with nine top traders and trading psychology experts, each describing his or her own view on how they develop and utilize intuition and related skills in trading. An excellent reading list is included at the end. I found the interview with Charles Faulkner most interesting as it contained material not found in other published interviews with this master NLP practitioner and trainer.The jacket summary overstates one aspect of the book with the statement "...extensive exercises that will how you how to enhance your trading performance." There is indeed a lot of information, detailed examples, lists and the like that one might use to enhance one's intuition, but I do not see "exercises" in the form of a workbook, so take heed to set your expectations accordingly. On another note, the range of trader styles represented in the interviews is a bit too narrow in my opinion; most are floor traders. I might prefer a broader mix of perspectives."The Intuitive Trader" by Robert Koppel is a significant contribution to the trading literature. Five stars.

This book consists largely of interviews with quacks and floor traders who are not really taking big directional bets. It has limited insights and pales in comparison to Market Wizards, Soros on Soros, or even some history of money management like Fortune's Formula. Not worth the time at all.

This is from far one of the best trading books highlighting the psychological side of trading. Many thanks to Mr. Koppel for this great great book!

Koppel's book, "The Intuitive Trader" provides excellent insights into the ways to combine left-brain (logical) and right brain (intuitive) skills to gain the competitive advantage. Koppel interviews established masters and shows how each of them rely on both the left and right sides of the brain. An excellent book for anyone in the world of professional investing.

Mark Douglas's "The Disciplined Trader" is, quite frankly, inexhaustible in explaining the many facets of the psychology of trading, and much better than Koppel's many attempts at the subject.

As I read, I realized that discernment was also a very important topic, so I bought some books on discernment.This was a well written book that provided other perspectives to assist me with teaching. The author knows the subject and did a fine job of imparting the knowledge and experiences of his life path.

His insights and suggested approaches are excellent. I have been a lay minister for nearly 60 years and wish I had read this in my early years. So, why only three stars? Too much "I", "my", etc. that takes away from his core message. It is obvious he has been a wonderful minister but let his book bear that testimony, he doesn't need to. If this does not bother you please get the book, you will gain great insight.

This book provides depth for the hungry believer. I love the personal examples from the authors life and the activation prayers at the end of each chapter. Practical and biblical!

An amazing book writen by a photographer and journalist who was sent to the Klondike and then, apparently not actually mining, tells us about the gold rush.I have made the de rigueur Alaska cruise and had the chance to go over the pass at Skagway.What men! And a pretty peaceable lot at that,They mined for gold by hand. The book describes staking a claim, digging, panning, sluicing and extracting gold with mercury. I have always wanted to know what a gold miner back in the day really did. The book details it plus the towns and buildings, life in the Yukom and Klondike at the 19th C close.. Starvation was early on in everyone's mind....could supplies get through? The travel down the rivers, ice crushing boats, swift rapids; it is all there.True adventure

This was a very good book for me from the stand point that my Great Great Grandfather was there and I knew virtually nothing of what went on during the rush. It was very informative about the preparations to go to the Yukon and what the ordeal was like. The author was a newspaper reporter and writes a very good description of life on the Yukon. His detail of the crossing from Skagway, over the mountain passes and the river voyages down to Dawson are very informative. When he arrives at Dawson, he gives a very good description of Dawson and the surrounding areas. Very thorough details on how mining was done and how gold was discovered in the area. Over all, it was very interesting book and it gave me more personal insight on what my G-G- Grandfather experienced.

 Tappan Adney was a writer, journalist, photographer and an artist. He has given a wonderful first hand chronicle of the Klondike Gold Rush. His observations are from a true professional journalist's point of view under contract with Harper's Weekly in the early 20th Century. It would have been nice to include his photographs or drawings of his observations in this edition. In contrast readers may be interested in reading HAZELET'S JOURNAL by George Cheever Hazelet as a more personal first person story. Plus it has a ton of photographs, illustrations and maps. Hazelet took a different route into the gold fields over Alaska's Valdez Glacier in 1898. His story was written for his family and close circle of friends if he did not survive. As a result, readers may find HAZELET'S JOURNAL more poignant. Although THE KLONDIKE STAMPEDE by Tappan Adney is a very powerful documentation of a period in the history of North America that got much notoriety at the time, but was generally miss understood or lost to what would be described today as "fake news." Abney was hired to bring the truth to Harper's Weekly readers.

Written by a newspaper man sent to the Klondike to tell the folks back home what it was like. Some parts are good and informative, but too many names and expressions are thrown in with out explanation. You need a map of the area to understand much of it. It was hard to believe the author was a professional writer.

I haven't read much about the gold rush in California so I thought this might be an interesting read. It was just o.k. I was expecting more personal stories. There were a few interesting tidbits but most of the book was about the trip instead of the experience. I found myself skipping over sections. I'm glad I read it but I was hoping for more.

A very detailed look at the Klondike gold rush era from the perspective of an "embedded" journalist. Most of the book is chronologically organized as the events unfolded, other parts are more thematic such as the gold gathering techniques. It badly needed an ending to wrap up the experience and I wish that there had been an epilogue of what the journalists life returning to civilization and his follow up work. One does get a very different perspective on that era and events than from other novels or movies.

A well written,factual account of endurance,suffering,struggle,winningand loss by superhuman men and women.One is hard pressed to imaginethe hardships so well enumerated in thisbook that these brave souls had to endure.I was sad when the book ended.
