I agree with some of the other reviews that the characters were undeveloped and boring. I was, overall, very disappointed and bought the book based on the great reviews. I could have done without some of the cheesy romantic language such as “her ovaries responded with yum”. I also felt the plot was predictable and moved at a snail’s pace. It took me a month to finish this book and I could never really get into it. I probably won’t read anything else by this author.

This is meant to be a "romantic mystery" or "romantic suspense" and IMO it fails at it all.It was insanely boring from the start, as well as disjointed. The first scene (let's count how many times we've seen this): a woman escaping in the dark, blahblah, with thoughts such as "This is the end," and lots of one line paragraphs ... Sigh.Of course she is caught, switch to chapter 2 and POV of the killer -- who, on chapter 1, was just following her, calling her name like this: Tesssssssssssa! and punching her in the jaw, is now a mess of guilt: what have I done, what have I done?So bad, very bad set up of the psychology. Is this a cold-blooded psycho or a man who "loses it" and is sorry?Then the set up of the MCs -- Morgan has three kids. Lost her soldier husband, lives with Grandpa, trying to get back to her job but is insecure. Please, wake me up when this gets more exciting. Zzzzzzzzz-zzzzzzzzzz.Lance is en ex-cop and has an injury and a trauma. Now he is a PI so we get a perfunctory scene of "Lance" doing PI work and stopping a woman from shooting her husband; Lance thinking of Morgan who was his high school (or something) GF and the usual thinking of her sweet body and how he can't keep his head around her. Ay, ay, ay.Then Tessa is dead and they think it was Nick the neighbor's kid. Morgan gets involved and gets Lance involved. They think a lot about each other as Morgan's daughters eat pancakes.Then there is an unexciting mystery investigation, with the POV of the killer and his twitching curtain; his psychology is no better and the thousand one-sentence paragraphs by this time are getting incredibly annoying. Pearls of human insight such as "But love has its dark side. Jealousy. Possession."Really?The resolution is the stuff of one of the lesser crime shows on TV with a hostage situation and a lot of exposition by a dying man literally grabbing the MC by the shirtfront to spew out paragraphs of the truth. There is meant to be a twist, but there isn't one, not really.We get the usual, "Oh, maybe we have too much emotional baggage" from the MCs at the end, but with the conclusion "But she fits so nicely against me." -- so that we know there will be some storms ahead for them, which I doubt will lift the romance above the soporific, yet is meant to keep us reading the next and next.If you add unexciting romance (AND I AM NOT THE ALPHA MALE/ SMUT TYPE OF READER) to loads of family everyday description to a mystery that isn't really mysterious to very simple writing with irritating quirks and repetitions to all possible clichés to (and to me most unforgivable in a crime story) bad insight into human psychology ... well, one wonders HOW this book has been a best-seller in mystery and romantic mystery/suspense for so long.

I just now finished "Say You're Sorry." This book kept me awake as I couldn't put it down.Just wanted to tell someone, anyone, what a good book. So well writtenI'll write a review (or try to). The book was so good I'm not sure I'll do it justice...but I'll try. I fell in love with the characters...and wonder of wonders I didn't figure out who the culprit was until the author wanted me to. Most of the time I can figure it out but not this time. There was never a dull moment.I wish I didn't have to wait until September for "Her Last Goodbye" to see what Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger have to deal with.

I listen to audiobook mysteries during my commute and while I do housework. I am really picky about narrators and this one was great. I also enjoyed the story - nothing too complicated or even particularly original, just good fun. I love the relationship between the two leading characters and the whodunnit mystery did keep me guessing until the end. Would make a perfect summer beach read.

The mystery is solid but Im beginning to loathe these crime novels that seem to spend as much time on the romance aspect as the actual mystery. We get it. The protagonist is a hot woman so therefore she needs a dude to salivate over her in order to be compelling. Except not. If you like your crime novels with a heaping side of goopy romantic stares and thin reflections on hot men and women, this is the book for you.

I should have known better. If you are into suspense thriller types reads this is not the one for you. Just another poorly written shlocky "romantic thriller, don't waste your money."

This volume continues with our team investigating the supposed return of Nikola's mother. There is also another evil witch, Striga, who seems likely to be a great source of trouble. What follows is a fight that will take a toll on Nikola and the witches. The Pontifex decides that after their labors, they've earned some down time. It's an incredibly anachronistic story, but most readers will forgive that for the opportunity to see Ezelvald, Upsula and Mylitta in bikinis. Finally, another of the old witches has been revived but she's not too happy and it looks like Nikola and the witches will have yet another all-out fight on their hands in Volume 6. Holy Corpse Rising continues to be an interesting high fantasy series.

I like the style and pacing of the series and I hope it has a good long run as such there's nothing I really dislike because I keep re-reading them until the next volume comes out. I hope that helps and thank you Amazon for asking for my input :)

Love this book as it covers varied drawings. Such as a parrot, tiger lilies A drawing of clematis climbing on an old bell on a post, a kitten , a portrait of a little girl, a landscape with a river, a seascape, and old mill, two still lifes, an owl and part of an old car.The instructions are step by step and the book includes color values, tools and materials, different pencil strokes, layering and blending, and Burnishing. Each project introduces different things to learn. And on top of all that the projects are interesting and beautiful.

This is a small book with a huge amount of helpful subjects on working with colored pencil. I am a beginner and was able to complete one of the drawings with the step by step instruction. I have it close to my work and refer to it often.

Walter Foster books are usually very good. This one is no exception. Colored pencil is a great medium for getting near-realistic effects, and if you scan your drawings, and play with Photoshop, you can do very interesting things. I like alien landscapes, moons on Saturn, say. Usually the picture on the cover says it all, with books like this. Good water effects are not easy to achieve. Doing good imaginary art requires grounding in drawing from consensus reality. This book is very good for that. Colored pencil effects are achieved with layers, something like what Photoshop does, and this book covers that better than some others.

This book gives information about drawing with colored pencils. Then it looks at specific drawings and asks the artist to tell how they drew them. Unfortunately it leaves out critical information specifying what exactly was required to use their techniques. Not all pencils and papers behave the way these authors describe. There are other books that are more informative with regards to types of pencils and types of paper. Those other books acknowledge the different methods available with the variety of materials. Get those books first. Then you can supplement your library with this book.

This was the best introduction to coloured pencil drawing one could wish for. It is clearly explained and gives some outstanding tips on technique

Very little actual instruction. Mostly a set of progressively developed pictures. never more than four steps. I think you can do better but that's just a personal opinion.

I think the art work is beautiful but I was expecting a beginners colored Pencil learning book and this is definitely named. I showed it to my art group which consists of both beginners and professionals and they agreed the step by step should have included the words for "Advanced Students". I gave it to one of the advanced members in our group.

Messengers of God: Biblical Portraits and Legends, by Elie Wiesel, explores the bible from a very literal perspective. His readings are informed by the biblical text and the Midrash, and are overwhelmingly concerned with gaps and questions about human and godly nature in the texts. Why does Job accept G-d’s “answer” to the source of his sufferings; why is Joseph a zaddik when he is so crass and pragmatic?Wiesel reads these stories very differently than I do. For me, the literal elements of the biblical stories are the least interesting. The mystical dimension is the goal; the details of the bible are only, but not exclusively, stepping stones to greater realities.But it is informative to read Wiesel struggle with the texts. It is certainly a deeply tradition Jewish concern.

I had this book. Loaned it out. It never came back. I missed it enough that I ordered a replacement copy. The writings are so powerful that I remembered them and thought about them often during the long time when I did not possess the book. Jewish, Muslim and Christian readers will be challenged (and delighted) to peer beneath the depths with Wiesel's masterful and compelling writing and will never think of Isaac and Abraham, and the other patriarchs as well in the same ways.

I laughed and gained insight in reading what Mr. Wiesel has written with his word play and painfully human depiction of Bible characters. A classic, just as all his work is.

Easily one of the best writers on the planet provides humble, yet evocative, superb, yet hopeful stories of the Hebrew Bible's most significantly remembered men. This book will bring the Old Testament alive to you!

And I’m glad I did.Nik Ripkin (not his real name to protect his contacts) took his family to Africa to work as missionaries and relief aid workers. They moved around in Africa some, before landing in Somolia during the 1990s—before, during, and after the infamous war that brought US and UN soldiers into the land devastated by tribal gang wars.Nik and his family left Somolia exhausted and discouraged. Not long thereafter, their son died and they were devastated. Feeling they had given all they could give, they returned to the US for a time of healing. The question Nik continued to ask was, “Can God make a difference in a place like Somolia?”He set out on what was intended to be a two-year mission to visit Christians around the world who lived under persecution and learn from them what he could take back to Somolia. His endeavor, however, became a full-time ministry for life.Speaking to Christians who were imprisoned in Russia, China, Asia and other unnamed places, he learned that God is alive and working much has he did in the New Testament, when persecution was normal and the absence of it was a sign something was wrong.As Nik Ripkin spent time with persecuted Christians, his dying faith was resurrected. To be perfectly honest, the first third of the book is a hard go. The grinding poverty, the unmitigated greed and the bare face of evil the author faced on his initial mission along side of the growing doubt that he was making any sort of impact at all almost had me put the book down a couple of times. I quite frankly wondered what all the glowing reviews were talking about. In hindsight, I think he did a wonderful job of conveying HIS sense of despair by passing it on to the reader. KEEP READING THE BOOK. Unless your heart is made of stone, you will find the pages hard to see at times (some sort of a mist or something), in the chapters that follow. This book deeply challenged my very definition of what it means to be a Christian in a country where we take our religious freedoms as granted, with nary a thought that the situation in this country might be changing and not for the better. Stick with Nik till the end; you will be a better person and perhaps have a more Christ-centered, realistic view of what it truly means to call yourself "a Christian".

The title "Insanity of God" is provocative. Most insane was that these Christian believers do not rise up to fight a holy war. They do not force their faith on anyone. They just live out their faith quite quietly with a Bible, not a bayonet! They choose to live their lives to the end true to their faith instead of chopping someone else head and ending an innocent life.Larry King once said, people believe in God because they fear -- death. He also said when there is no death, there will be no fear, and there will be no God. Reading this book, I have come to a conclusion that we are the ones who fear exactly because we have no faith, and because we have no God -- no God like the One these Christians believe in. We are afraid of losing anything dear to us because we have no God to make up for our losses. As a result, we give in to fear quickly and we compromise with our dreaded enemies. Like Larry King, the majority of us deep down think that God is unnecessary or that God makes us weak, which explains, rather ironically, the weakness shown nowadays in the West that have always believed to be strong. These believers, however, show me just the opposite: Indeed they look so weak, being persecuted, but in fact, they are strong in faith and their faith has been tested in the killing fields, not in a studio!They tell me, by their lives and by their death, that with God, there is no death, and there is no fear! Faced with a choice in every dire situation, they choose not to fear death, but fear God. Their lives bring to mind what Sydney Carton said before his execution in the last chapter in Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities.

Got to love playing Sublime.

It was missing an entire sheet of music. Torn right out of the damn book. But, it's used, so I can't be too mad.

i own both, 40oz to frredom and self titled sublime sheet music books, and i saw this book in a sam goody store. and i saw they were totally different music. when they say easy, they mean EASY. they don't have begginings to 80% of the songs. "saw red" was only the chorus. "doin time" was only the part where brad sings. "krs 1" was only the verse. "date rape" was only the beggining. oh yeah to make everything worse, there are no solos in the whole ... book.

The Sublime book had most of the songs that I needed to learn. It included all the little intervals and breaks in the music so you can play the song exaclty how it is on the cd.

Theis guitar book is a great one. Sublime is the coolest band ever and Since I already mastered the 40 oz. to freedom album (pretty much),I wanted something different. Buy it, its worth the m0ney. Bradley Nowell RIP 1968-1996

These books are wonderful! my daughter learned by herself many words, just by looking at the pictures and the signs. The best to teach your children how to sign even they can hear. You will avoid tantrums and improve the communication.

I already owned this book for my son, who has a hearing loss, when he was a baby and decided to buy it as a 1st birthday gift for a friend's child. Book is perfect for looking at with your babies of any age to teach them basic American Sign Language. The pictures are colorful and include a child or person demonstrating the sign, as well as the written word and description of the motion. Great book for children! All of the books in this series are wonderful.

My son is a big eater. He loves food. This is greatest advantage for my son to learn. Beautiful!
