I love the Nice Little Town books but I think this one is my favorite. Her illustrations are so imaginative.

I love this series of books. It did not disappoint. I already had 1 through 6 so I NEEDED this book. They just keep getting cuter and cuter. Amazon paper though. Still it can be worked with.

I have been collecting the entire Nice Little Town series since it was first published. Yesterday volume 7 was gifted to me. This is my favorite volume - but I have said this as each new volume has been released! Needless to say, I really adore this series and will continue to collect it as long as as it's being published.Since the Nice Little Town series has been published (and I assume very popular), there have been two other artists who have tried to jump into the popular tiny type of village art (there may be others, but I am only aware of two). One artist has drawn adorable fairy villages, and the other one has created a tiny flower village. While I must admit that they really cute, in my opinion, there is nothing, so far, that compares to the original Nice Little Town series. Tjiyis only my opinion, and of course, you may disagree with me. But this is the wonderful and exciting thing about art, there is something for everyone.In my excitement about receiving this marvelous book, I couldn't resist coloring a couple of pictures right away. Here are the important things that any colorist will probably want to know regarding this book;1. This book, like all of the rest of the books in this series, is printed on the typical white, create space paper. Many people don't mind this paper at all, while others don't like it at all.2. The artwork is printed single sided (only one picture is printed on the front of the page, while the back is left blank). As is the norm for create space published books, the pages are not perforated.Many people often complain about the pages not being perforated, but there is a really simple solution. Page perforators are available through Amazon for about $5. It's a small investment that you will never want to be without.3. If you plan to color the pages in the book I highly recommend that you place a piece of cardstock or several pieces of paper behind the page to protect the rest from drnts made by pencils and pens, and any wet mediums that will most certainly bleed through.One last thing that I want to mention is that Tatiana Bogema Stolova has a wonderful sense of humor and a lot of creativity. Anyone who can dream of the scenes that she creates is amazing to me. Her mice get more and more human in the lives that she depicts them living. Yo page through her books is almost like reading a wonderful fairy tale.Have a great day and color on!

I love how the book shows the importance of letting who you are shine through :-)I recommend this book to parents of young children. It is a positive reinforcement book which is well written and shows the love one person can give to help others💞 I hope to see more books like this to share with my children that are ages 13,11 and 8.

With all of the great reviews, I purchased 2 copies of this book for Christmas gifts. Well, probably for the first time ever with a book order from Amazon, I will be returning them. With so many beautiful words in the English language the author chooses to use the word "magical" (more than once) to describe the influences of the firefly's light. This sends a subtle, but wrong, message to kids. Our children's "lights" have nothing to do with magic, either in origin or in effect.

This is a great children's book celebrating uniqueness! Firenze is a sweet character that children will love. The happy yet delicate illustrations fit the message perfectly.

I absolutely loved this book! It is such a sweet story with a good message that I want to share with my little girls. My five year old in particular loves fireflies (what we call lightning bugs!). I got this in ebook format, but I plan on also buying the print version for my girls. The artwork is really beautiful, and I want them to be able to hold it in their hands.

My kids and I loved this book. Super cute illustrations and a great message about loving yourself just as you are.

I loved this wonderfully illustrated, beautifully told story! Firenze is a sweet main character, and her friend Gnatalie the gnat's name made me chuckle. This is a story I'll love reading for my little ones at night.

This book is a wonderful message to children and everyone to always love yourself no matter the flaw. You should always love yourself because there is no one like you. You are unique and that is okay. This book is great for everyone and the drawings are beautiful. It’s a great read and I recommend for anyone to read this.

While there, a health clinic is opened to treat all ailments, so any community members who are interested in learning are welcome to watch and learn for the future when they are on their own.In many countries,(at very young ages) soldiers are recruited and become disfuntionally ruthless and barbaric. Their hearts are infultrated with hatred, and their minds are impaired with the local drug and/or alcohol of choice. This is a lethal combination which adds more fuel to the fire in places where the average person's life has already been significantly altered by these dispicable soldiers who are dictated to continue on inflicting inhumane autrocities.Please read the book. It is full of stories of places around the world that are inflicted with pain and the need for human survival. And each area in the world where these true heros go to are quite interesting places. You will find gracious heartfilled stories in all parts of the book as well.I recommend this book highly for 'so many reasons'. And I am certain that I will re-read it one day, especially when I need a piece of humble pie for myself!

I'd been wanting this book for ages because as long as I can remember I've wanted to work for MSF. I really wasn't sure what to expect, and whether I'd still want to work for them once I'd read it! But I am happy to report nothing has changed...if anything, I'm even more driven!In this book, Bortolotti provides insight into the "real" world of MSF and gives potential recruits like me a better understanding of what sort of situations one would be found in, as well as what to expect of life within MSF. It's eye-opening and based in reality, that's for sure. I also knew very little about how MSF began, and the structural organization, which this book provides information on. Bortolotti writes with fictional flare, which makes it more interesting than non-fiction can sometimes be. He appears to really know his stuff, and has gotten down to some of the nitty-gritty that others may choose to ignore; or to describe things that may have been lost in the romanticism associated with MSF's type of work.I still want to work for MSF, and am grateful this book provided me with a better understanding and broader perspective of this amazing organization.

I'm a medical student and MSF was one of the reasons that got me into medicine. At first, it all seemed like a great adventure, I would watch videos of missions and think of those people as heroes. And while I still think that they are very brave and I deeply admire them, this book was very enlightening about the people that work for MSF, how their work is done, how MSF came to be, and how hard and challenging it is. It is a very good book.Humanitarian work is a great challenge. If you want to know more about MSF, in a more personal way, I also recommend Six months in Sudan, by James Maskalyk.

This is perhaps the most thorough, yet accessible, look into the work of MSF. I was struck time and time again by these brave and crazy people who pursue this field and the resilience of their patients. The book tells firsthand stories in various regions as well as the history of MSF, a truly comprehensive look. I highly recommend it and anticipate revisiting its pages in the future.

Good character development, interesting story, great pace.Worth your time, buy the book!I'll enjoy more form the Author and will buy the next in the series.

i can't begin to tell you the awesomeness of this book. I am NOT a computer gamer, I was born too soon. However, I did try a few online computer player games about 15 years ago with the help of my kids and enjoyed playing with them (mostly because they told me what to do), however, I was too intimidated to play alone.With that said, this book was SO exciting because I was able to have the experience of a computer game without the anxiety of playing myself. It was like actually being an experienced player! I feel like a kid in a candy store. :chuckle: I only have a few pages to go and I am so glad there is a second one out in the series or I would probably only read a paragraph a day to prolong the experience! Definitely a must buy.It is my new All Time Current Favorite! And I do not say that lightly. Big Kudos to Carrie!

A solid blend of stats and story. I think the only parts that might need a little work and it might be just me is the transitioning between the differing AIs. I can see where it might be going but i just felt it kind of slowed the pacing down a bit. Otherwise, a solid entry into the litrpg genre. I think this is a solid start to ap promising series

Devon is a gamer in need of a job who lets herself get one basically as a beta tester not just of a new game, but new hardware as well. In this book she sets her first steps in the game with promises for more both in and out of the game.The story is mostly told from Devon's perspective with the occasional switch to the developer of the AI behind the game to help give a bigger view. The switches are short and dispite my dislike for switching not distracting. I also like Devon as a protagonist: she is caring, cunning and brave, using trickery and talk as her main weapons and not overpowered combat prowess. The balance between in and out of game is good in my opinion with it being almost two sepetate stories at the moment. I am curious what is going on.The game mechanics are a bit lacking from a game perspective. It is mostly skill based with no planning ahead and for a gamer very little attention is paid what the mechanics mean exactly. From a story perspective this is maybe better, and at least we get to see spell effect growth in advance which lessens the feel of the mechanics being an after effect.All in all, a good addition to the litrpg genre.

I’ve read a lot of a fantasy over the years both good and bad. Some books I've read the first few lines and stopped because it was only going to get worse. This book is not one of those. From the first few lines I was intrigued.I’ve not read any other story like this and it’s refreshing. At first I was a little apprehensive when it revealed that she was in a game and not in an actual fantasy world but as I read on, it works. Though I do skim some of the real world parts, the story is compelling and I’ve come to like the characters and setting and I'm genuinely interested in what is going to happen next.

Never read anything from this genre before, but this book was great!!! So far a great RPG narrative style, a crisscross of plots from present and game, interesting stats and gameplay and the best part: a female heroine! There are a couple of details I truly disliked: dwarves women with beards are great (excuse u) and I don’t think we needed to be reminded of how often the heroine is attractive.Truth to be told, I just care about the greatest bunch of NPCs and I hope Devon doesn’t mess it up. Onwards to the next book!

I saw this book on a Facebook ad. On a whim, I decided to give it a try since I had not heard of this new LitRPG genre. The book was hard to put down! I don't think I've been this into a book in a while (recent reading includes the Golden Compass trilogy, the first two Wheel of Time books, Ursula Le Guin - Hainish cycle, Expanse series, and H.P. Lovecraft). Although I have not played any MMORPG's or D&D, I have played plenty of other RPG computer & video games, so I could follow along perfectly well. However, someone without an RPG background probably would not enjoy it as much. But yeah, I kinda felt like I was playing an RPG game as I was reading. Since I haven't read any other LitRPG books, I don't know how this one compares, but from what I've heard, this one has a unique base building element to it. But yeah, good book. Quick read. (And the next book has me even more hooked!)

There has been an explosion in the LITRPG genre and a few authors standout as both highly knowledgeable and good writers of engrossing tales. Carrie Summers is definitely in that camp! Or make that a jungle, with a great heroine that everyone can admire and root on as she levels up and discovers that the new, full-immersion game she has been hired to stress test is about as real as it can get. This first book gives satisfaction while teasing us with deeper mysteries that simply beg for follow-on efforts. Luckily, one is coming soon!

The links between the modern-day people and their forebears, those Jews hunted down and killed during the Inquisition, are felt in how the author inhabits every one of them. The result is to experience history from the inside. It is to comprehend how we are shaped by the past and how we shape the future. Ultimately, it is to feel life as a continuum, capacious and grand. I would never have imagined that such a dark story could be inspiring, but in Morris’s sure hands it is. Gateway to the Moon is humane, fascinating, and absolutely compelling. I have never read anything like it. If you’re tired of reading the same stories again and again, read this one. It will shake up your heart and your mind.

The author works off a fascinating historical plot: the history of Crypto-Jews in New Mexico. Alternating chapters are set during the Spanish Inquisition (beginning 1492), the Portuguese Inquisition (beginning 1536), the New Spain Inquisition (around 1600) and 1992, which is of course, 500 years after the start of the Spanish Inquisition and Columbus's first journey to the New World. A tale is woven among a group of people who know they are Jews, a group of people who convert to Christianity, but know they were once Jews and Hispanics who do not know that their forebears were Jewish. In the latter category, are people who light candles and eat braided bread on Friday night, do not eat pork or milk with meat and circumcise males. This is their tradition without knowing why.Morris's writing is better in the non-contemporary chapters. The characters, their relationships and historical settings are well developed even powerful. The author provides a list of all of the main characters, placing an asterisk next to those for whom there is an historical record. The contemporary fictional characters are unfortunately stereotypical: Why is it necessary for Rachel's mother to be a Holocaust survivor or Miguel to drive a low-rider? Why did Miguel's mother have to be a rape victim? Is it realistic to create mystical connections with foods and places of distant, unknown ancestors?There is an over-arching astronomical theme exemplified by Miguel's fascination with astronomy. But whatever connection the author wishes to make between astronomy and her main focus, the story of Crypto-Jews is rather strained. Does Miguel's interest in astronomy spring from his ancestor who sailed with Columbus on the Santa Maria? The author is suggesting that each of us is more than his/her DNA. We are also a product of the traditions, loves and losses of those who came before. How to actually disclose and relate to that, is, as the author suggests, rather difficult.

The author bases the novel on two intertwining themes. Descendants of converso families in 1490’s Spain become crypto Jews by the 1990’s in New Mexico. Secondly, the author likens, space exploration of the “Unknown” to the exploration and navigation of the New world. The story flips back and forth from the 1490’s-1600’s to the 1990’s.Many characters fill the novel, each personality, lively and distinct. To advance the historical chain of events, the author depicts amazing, generational short stories. Morris builds present day characters through lustrous, lengthy tales, through the opinions of other figures and through similarities of ancestry.Not an action-oriented plot, the author uses colorful, vibrant imagery with powerful lamentations from the past or elated hopes for the future to weave the story of each personality. Little conversation takes place as the characters interact minimally with one another. As the story progresses, each character embarks upon a particular journey of discovery.

I thought that Gateway was a truly epic great book, and signals that Mary Morris has become a world class writer. It was a moving look into a family history through centuries starting from The Sephardic Jews of Portugal at the time of the inquisition and ending in 20th century New Mexico.. The images of what the earlier characters endured is moving and rather terrifying, particularly in light of where our current situation is and might still go. The level of research is exceptional. I was sorry to finish.

Just finished reading Gateway to the Moon. An incredibly compelling read......a real page turner and beautifully written. It has introduced me to a subject that I was totally unfamiliar with, but, now can’t wait to read more about it. WOW!! A MUST READ!! And a book that I look forward to introducing others to..

Really made me think about what it was like for people in Columbus's ships and I did not know about the Inquisition continuing in the New World, Portugal or other details of that terrible period. Everything tied up neatly in the end, which makes it a bit unrealistic. Still, compelling characters, and loved the descriptions of New Mexico, and the Santa Maria. And tangine.

Excellent novel for the overs of historical fiction. I even got recipes for Moroccan food that I made and loved. Great book. Especially for those that do AncestryDNA or the other DNA/Ancestry providers who don't understand why they have Iberian Peninsula Ancestry and Jewish Ancestry. Read no farther than the Spanish/Catholic Inquisition. It wasn't just Spain that the Inquisition occurred in, it was also in Portugal, Mexico and any place that the Catholic Church had a control and influence and Jews may have immigrated to.

I met the author at a book signing in Santa Fe NM. She read passages from the book and discussed it with the sizable audience. I promptly purchased it and read in short order. It's a page turner. I believe it is perfect for a mini-series show. I hope the networks are paying attention.
